CAS(E) This Sketch & The Friday Mashup ~ Love...

I wanted to take part in the challenge over at the Friday Mashup this week as it is something close to my heart but I have honestly had a hard time sitting down to create anything. Their challenge this week is to create a card to commemorate National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, which takes place next month.

I have such mixed feelings about this as October brings such painful memories of sorrow as we remember the two babies we lost in 2011 but also a tremendous sense of joy and peace as we celebrate the birthday of our sweet baby girl we welcomed last October. It is a very difficult thing to cope with and we mourn the lives of those two babies who were not meant to be but also celebrate the blessing that Claire has brought to our lives! We simply cannot imagine our lives without Claire and if things had turned out differently she never would have been.

I decided I would keep it simple and create something that spoke to the way I am feeling and so here it is. I have used the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch to create this card.

  1. I love the swirls, and what a beautiful sentiment, Hayley! I was sure there must be many women (and men) who have dealt with a loss of a child out there in blog challenge land, and yet it is so hard to talk about it. The challenge was a very difficult one for me to post, but for the charity, I felt I needed to. Thanks so much for sharing and for joining the Friday Mashup this week.

  4. Hayley, what an absolutely beautiful card. It's so sweet and simple... so angelic. A perfect card for the sentiment attached to it. I love the two butterflies. A wonderfully symbolic, yet usable, card. Thanks for sharing your story and joining us this week at The Friday Mashup!
